Disclaimer: Thanks Chester for the suitcase! Although they provided me with this suitcase in exchange for a review, as always, all opinions are our own.
Ever since I started traveling with only a carry on, I have been on the hunt for a durable and lightweight carry on. Being a regular traveler, local and international, I was willing to spend a little more for a good quality luggage because I know it will be worth it. Luckily, I was approached by Chester to try their carry on and review it because they were confident I was going to love it. Hmmm…let’s see Chester. My emphasis is solely on high quality and nothing else. What do you guys think? Was it a pass or fail? Any guesses? Keep on reading for my review on the Chester carry on luggage.

You may wonder if you really need another piece of luggage. Any why would you even spend more than $100 for a carry on? For someone like me, who has traveled quite a bit and has had a lot of bad experiences dragging around a crappy piece of suitcase, I am going to share my honest review. Here are some of the things I look for when selecting a carry on: interior space, durability, and ease of usage.
PRO TIP: Ever hear of the horror stories of how airlines loose your baggage for days or forever? Well, if you travel just with a carry on, you save yourself from the risk of getting your bags lost!
Let’s break it down. Interior space is crucial because I need to be able to fit all of my things for a 5-7 days trip which includes clothes, shoes, makeup, etc. Call me crazy! Next, why do I care about ease of usage? I mean isn’t it just rolling your suitcase? Nope! My carry on needs to be lightweight because that’s an extra 2-3 lbs that I can use towards my baggage allowance (a lot of airlines weigh your carry ons too). Secondly, trying to drag your carry-on on carpet in addition to all the extra bags you have collected from duty-free or for many it maybe carrying your child on one arm and rolling a suitcase with the other! The wheels must roll smoothly and in all 4 directions. If you still have a suitcases that roll only on 2 wheels, the all-direction rolling ones will change your life. Okay, that’s a big statement, maybe just change your travels. Lastly, durability is important because I plan to have only 1 piece of carry-on for at least the next 5 years due to limited storage space at home. Also, there is nothing worst than a suitcase that breaks while you are on a trip in another country or in the middle of the airport! I’d be really embarrassed if that ever happened to me.
Now that I have told you what I look for in a carry-on, let’s talk about the Chester carry-on luggage.
The luggage was ordered from Amazon and arrived safely in a cardboard box. Once you open the box, the suitcase comes in a suitcase dust bag. What a nice little touch! To be honest, all my past suitcases have been from either TJ Maxx or Macys and none of them ever came with a dust bag.
The dimensions of the suitcase are 21.5″ X 13.5″ X 8.5″ and weighs under 7 lbs. It meets the size standards for most airlines, Once you open the bag, there are 2 sides to pack your belongings. One side has 3 pockets store smaller items such as travel size toiletries, jewelry, or even that extra pair of flip flops. The other side has one large zippered pocket that makes the suitcase very functional. It also comes with a small water-resistant pouch and removable laundry bag, perfect to store the dreaded dirty clothes. I wish they could do my laundry too 🙁 I typically use packing cubes to pack my clothes which fit perfectly on one side of the suitcase and then all other items such as shoes, hair tools, etc. go on the other side. I take minimum makeup in a pouch that goes in my purse. Let me make one thing clear, it is very challenging not being able to take 15 different shades of lipsticks.

My travel must haves
This is a hard shell suitcase, most of my others have been the soft shell because I always thought they can expand and store more stuff. Well, the Chester exterior is extremely durable and flexible. It is made of 100% polycarbonate which makes it unbreakable and lightweight, in addition to flexible enough to expand for maximum packing . Unbreakable, huh?? I just might test that Chester.
Here’s my final verdict on the Chester carry on luggage. I genuinely love it! Here are my top reasons why I say that.
- It comes with a guaranteed 10 year limited warranty. That means if the suitcase or any of it’s parts break, they will repair or replace it for you!
- It also has a 30-day trial period. So if at any point in the first 30 days you feel that this suitcase is not for you, you can simply return it for a full refund- no questions asked.
- It is lightweight and easy to roll around.
Couple of other things to note about the Chester, it comes with a TSA approved lock, and they offer several color options which makes it easy to spot your bag. The suitcase is over $100 which was a little more than what I would normally spend on a carry on, but honestly if it is going to last me for the next 10 years, it is totally worth it. And like I have stated, I am starting to travel only with a carry on, so these things are really important to me. Lastly, if you don’t believe me, you can check out the Amazon reviews for the suitcase, it is listed as the top 50 carry ons and has rating of 4.8/5/0. Click here to check it out.
