    2017 Travel Recap

2017… ah, what a year. Thank you for all the amazing memories, the good, the not so good, met some amazing people and strengthened some old friendships, and challenged myself to bring out the best in me. Overall, it was a beautiful year. As many of you have been following my footsteps around, you are aware that I traveled to some amazing new destinations in 2017. My favorite were visiting Italy and celebrating my 30th birthday with some amazing friends in Miami. Here is a recap of my 2017 journeys and cheers to many more in 2018!

    ORLANDO

Kicked off 2017 with a visit to the sunshine state and went back thrice. I visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the first time and loved it! I revisited some old favorites like Clearwater beach and Keke’s Breakfast Cafe. I also was part of my best friend’s wedding, celebrated Diwali with my family and spend some quality time with friends. Check out my Orlando Travel guide and some other recommendations for Florida here.

    ANNAPOLIS

The historic capital of Maryland was a pleasant surprise. I remember it was a warm and sunny day in February (shocker), perfect to explore the little town and lunch by the waterfront. Check out my blog including some of the restaurants recommended by locals here.

    PARIS-ITALY

Now this was a big one which almost didn’t happen! Thanks to a blizzard in mid-March. So I had to drive through a snow storm from D.C. to New York, but fortunately my flight took off on time and 8 hours later I was in Paris! It definitely is a magical feeling to have visited Paris and if things couldn’t get any better, I went to Milan and Rome. As I sat looking at the Colesseum,  I was happy that I decided to live my dreams.

I somehow managed to drop my phone in the Trevi Fountain and almost got arrested for jumping in the pond. My advice, DO NOT do it! There are policemen around, just ask for help.

Italy definitely took my heart and I can’t wait to go back to explore the rest of the country. Check out my post on Paris here and what to do in Italy for 2 and a half days here.

    MIAMI

I celebrated my dirty thirty in Miami. I usually don’t bother celebrating my birthdays (I know) but it was a milestone so figured why not. I hopped on a car with 4 other friends from Orlando and within a couple of hours we were in Miami. A memorable birthday weekend which was spend eating some  amazing food, exploring Wynwood district, cruising around the waters on a private yacht, watching Iggy Azalea perform live (thanks Iggy!) and soaking in all the sunshine at South Beach.  Couldn’t have asked for more!

    NEW YORK

New York, New York, the city that never sleeps. A rather short but expensive (thanks to tolls) road trip from D.C. to New York, met up with a friend to celebrate her birthday at a cool restaurant that is inside a pawn shop called Beauty & Essex. The food was actually really good, I would highly recommend it the next time you are in New York. We also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, took tons of pictures and had some traditional New York style pizza for lunch. Here is a previous blog post about Christmas in New York city.

    ATLANTA

And lastly, I spend Christmas in the city of Atlanta. A blog post is coming up soon about how I spend my Christmas there, so stay tuned!

     Visiting Atlanta

My 2017 was certainly a memorable one and I can’t wait for all the exciting things coming up in 2018. Having said that, I need to start planning my next trips, so far only one I have planned is Orlando in the month of January. With the below freezing temperatures, a beach getaway is inevitable.

And for all those asking how do I travel so often, I am always on the lookout for cheap flights and I usually go where the flights are least expensive. Currently, round trip flights to many destinations in Europe are under $400! Trust me, it is a lot easier to travel than you think. Feel free to comment below if you need any tips planning for your next trip. Where are you planning to travel next? I would love to hear from you!

Sounds like a great year, and the next one will be even better! Did you know that the flights within Europe are cheap as well? It’s possible to fly from Germany to the United Kingdom for around 15$, and there are a lot of other cheap flight options as well.
