This post is a 4 day itinerary for an amazing trip to Miami, Florida.
Let me tell you something: Miami is electric. Every time I go it is better than the last. It’s where Latin rhythms meet art deco dreams, where crystal-clear beaches flirt with bustling street life, and where one sunset can honestly change your mood for the better.
The first time I went, I wasn’t sure if I was more excited for the food or the beach, but by Day 2 I realized: Miami isn’t just one vibe. It’s all of them. Four days here felt like slipping into vacation mode on fast-forward, but still somehow having time to breathe, tan, dance, and eat all the tacos. Here’s how to make the absolute most of it. Are you ready?
THINGS TO KNOW – HOW DO I PLAN A 4 DAY TRIP TO MIAMI?
When is the best time to visit Miami?
Honestly? It depends on your vibe. I went in February and the weather was chef’s kiss, sunny, breezy, not sticky.
- December to April is peak season, and yes, it’s popular for a reason. Beach-perfect days, ideal for strolls down Ocean Drive.
- May to November is warmer (and more humid), with hurricane season in play. But if you’re okay with afternoon showers and want fewer crowds? This might be your sweet spot.
How to get around Miami?
Let’s keep it real, Miami isn’t super walkable everywhere.
- Renting a car makes exploring easier, especially if you want to hop between Wynwood, Little Havana, and Key Biscayne.
- Uber/Lyft are everywhere and super handy.
- Trolleys & Metromover (free in Downtown) are surprisingly convenient for short city hops.
Pro tip? Wear comfy sandals. I thought my cute wedges would survive Wynwood. They didn’t.
What to pack for Miami?
Picture this: breezy linen dresses, swimsuits galore, and sunglasses that scream “I’m on vacation.” My essentials:
- Sunscreen (because Florida sun does not play)
- A big floppy hat (bonus: looks great in photos)
- Swimwear x3, because wet bikinis are the worst
- A light jacket or wrap (AC inside is freezing)
- Something sparkly for Miami nightlife, trust me
Where to stay in Miami?
Let’s talk about finding your home away from home in Miami. Because trust me, where you stay really sets the tone for your trip, whether you’re planning to dance till sunrise or sip iced lattes under palm trees.
South Beach is the ultimate classic. It’s loud in the best way, colorful, buzzy, and always alive. Think: art deco buildings, neon signs, music floating through the air at all hours. If you want the beach literally outside your door, and clubs a five-minute walk away, this is the place. I stayed here once and ended up barefoot on the sand with strangers-turned-friends by 2 a.m. That’s the kind of energy it gives.
Brickell, on the other hand, is Miami’s sleek, grown-up sibling. It’s where luxury lives, rooftop bars, trendy restaurants, and skyline views that make you feel like you’re in a movie. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who want style and chill at the same time. I love having dinner in Brickell, then heading back to my room with a view of the glittering city.
Then there’s Wynwood, which has my artsy heart. If you’re into murals, matcha, street fashion, and indie boutiques, this is your jam. It’s creative and cool without trying too hard. Every block is another photo op. It feels like the soul of the city, but without the chaos of South Beach.
I stayed at The Goodtime Hotel (yes, it’s really called that), and let me tell you, it delivers on its name. Pastel tones everywhere, palm-print walls, a rooftop pool that turns into a mini-party by 4 p.m., and a playlist that made me want to Shazam every song. The people-watching alone was worth the stay.
Whether you’re here for the parties, the art, or the peace and palm trees, Miami has a neighborhood with your name on it.
What to do in Miami?
This is where Miami becomes magic. There’s something about the sun, the sea breeze, and the sound of Latin music drifting through the air that just moves you. Here’s what filled my heart with joy and my camera roll with too many photos:
Start with Ocean Drive. Yes, it’s touristy, but it’s also iconic. I strolled past pastel art deco hotels, drank a giant piña colada the size of my head, and felt like I was in a movie. Everything is a little extra, and that’s exactly the point.
Then dive into Wynwood Walls. This isn’t just street art. It’s full-blown masterpieces sprawled across buildings, alleys, and even sidewalks. I spent hours just wandering, snapping photos, sipping on cold brew from an artsy café, and wondering why I don’t live here.
You have to visit Little Havana, especially Calle Ocho. I watched old men play dominoes at Domino Park, danced to live salsa in the middle of the street, and tasted my first proper café cubano (spoiler: it’s small, but mighty). I left with a hand-rolled cigar in one hand and a new rhythm in my step.
South Pointe Park is where I went to breathe. It’s this lush, calm space at the southern tip of South Beach with palm trees swaying and ocean views stretching for miles. I took my journal, kicked off my sandals, and just existed. That’s the kind of park it is.
And if you can, do a day trip to Key Biscayne. It’s quieter, more nature-y, and the beaches feel untouched. I climbed to the top of the lighthouse and just stood there for a while, taking it all in. No noise. No rush. Just sea and sky.
Miami is like ten cities in one. And every activity opens up another version of the city you didn’t know existed.
Where to eat in Miami?
Okay, now we get to the really important part, food. Because Miami? She’s a total foodie flirt. One minute you’re sipping espresso in a Cuban café, the next you’re licking sugar off your fingers after a churro. Here’s what stole my stomach:
Start at Versailles in Little Havana, the unofficial Cuban embassy of Miami. I ordered the ropa vieja and almost proposed to my waiter. It’s hearty, flavorful, and absolutely iconic. The atmosphere buzzes with history and locals catching up over plantains.
Then head to Joe’s Stone Crab in South Beach for a splurge. Yes, it’s fancy. Yes, you should wear something cute. And yes, the key lime pie actually lives up to the hype (I may have ordered a second slice for “the table”).
In Wynwood, don’t miss The Salty Donut. Their brown butter + salt donut basically changed my life. I went back the next morning “just to try another flavor” and walked out with a box of six.
If comfort food is your thing, Yardbird Southern Table & Bar is the holy grail. The fried chicken? Golden, crispy, juicy magic. I got teary. And don’t skip the biscuits, they’re buttery hugs in food form.
For a laid-back, late-night fix, go to La Sandwicherie. It’s a tiny counter spot near the beach, and their French baguette sandwiches hit different after a long night. Dripping with dressing, stacked with ham, cheese, pickles, magic, however they make it, it works.
Oh, and stroll down Lincoln Road with a snack in hand. You’ll find street vendors selling churros, ice cream shops calling your name, and patios full of happy people. One night I found a random dessert shop and devoured a guava cheesecake that I’m still dreaming about.
Miami doesn’t just feed you, it seduces you. One bite at a time.
ANY OTHER TIPS FOR VISITING MIAMI?
- Stay hydrated, Miami sun + mojitos = thirsty traveler.
- Tipping is expected, usually 18–20%.
- Book Alcatraz… just kidding. That’s San Francisco. But do book Wynwood Walls or Everglades tours ahead if it’s high season.
- Sunrise on the beach is totally worth waking up early. Bring your coffee and thank me later.
STEAL MY 4 DAY ITINERARY FOR MIAMI
DAY 1: Hello, South Beach Vibes
The moment I landed in Miami, I could practically feel the city buzzing with sunshine and salsa. I dropped my bags, freshened up, and made a beeline for the beach, because honestly, what better way to start your trip than with your toes in the sand and that salty Atlantic breeze in your hair?
Ocean Drive was alive. Neon lights flickering against pastel Art Deco buildings, palm trees swaying like they’re dancing to reggaetón, and music spilling out from open-air cafés. I grabbed a late lunch at Big Pink, where the portions are outrageous and the pink décor is chef’s kiss. After that, I planted myself right on the sand for some well-earned beach time, no plans, just sunshine.
As golden hour hit, I slipped into something breezy and headed to The Betsy Rooftop Bar for cocktails with a view. That first sip of a cold mojito while watching the sky turn peach? Heaven. For dinner, I wanted something classic, so I landed at Havana 1957, plantains, ropa vieja, and mojitos that actually hit different in Miami.
And if you’ve still got energy after that? Head to Mango’s Tropical Café, it’s pure Miami nightlife in one colorful, chaotic, amazing experience. You’ll thank me later.
DAY 2: Color, Culture & the Coolest Streets
Started the day the only acceptable way: The Salty Donut for the fluffiest donut and iced coffee combo you could ever ask for. I took my sugar buzz straight to Wynwood, and WOW. Wynwood Walls is basically an outdoor museum of giant murals and street art that makes you feel like you’ve walked into a painting.
I wandered around, popping into indie galleries and shops at Wynwood Marketplace, snagged a few local souvenirs, and worked up an appetite. So naturally, I made my way to Coyo Taco and ordered the al pastor, not to be dramatic, but it changed my life.
In the afternoon, I headed downtown to soak in some art and architecture at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), it’s so beautiful inside and out. As the sun started to dip, I took a peaceful stroll through Bayfront Park, just watching the boats and the sky turn lavender.
Ended the day with dinner at Novikov Miami, Asian fusion perfection, glam ambiance, and the kind of cocktails you order just because they’re too pretty not to.
DAY 3: Culture + Chill = Miami Magic
Today was all about slowing down and soaking in Miami’s roots. I kicked it off at El Palacio de los Jugos with a tropical breakfast that tasted like sunshine, fresh papaya, croquetas, and sweet café con leche.
Next stop: Little Havana. I wandered down Calle Ocho, watched the old-timers play dominos at Domino Park, and had the strongest cafecito of my life. Of course, I couldn’t skip lunch at Versailles, it’s basically the heartbeat of Cuban Miami and yes, the lechón lives up to the hype.
The afternoon was mellow. I headed to South Pointe Park with a little picnic, took in the ocean breeze, and did absolutely nothing for a while. Later, I wandered through Lincoln Road Mall, great for boutique finds, people-watching, and one last pastelito.
Dinner was at Juvia and I’m not being dramatic, it might be one of the most beautiful rooftops I’ve ever been to. The view, the vibe, the food… just wow. Definitely reserve in advance.
DAY 4: A Bit of Wild + a Whole Lot of Wow
My last morning in Miami and I wasn’t wasting it. I grabbed a flaky croissant and espresso from Rosetta Bakery (a total hidden gem) before heading off to the wild side of Florida, the Everglades. I joined a classic airboat tour and let me tell you, gliding through sawgrass spotting gators is not something you forget. The peace out there is surreal.
If that’s not your vibe, consider a relaxed beach morning at Key Biscayne. Way more chill than South Beach but just as dreamy, especially if you want one last ocean dip before heading out.
For my final meal, I saved a good one: late lunch at Rusty Pelican with ocean views that almost made me miss my flight. But don’t worry, I still grabbed a to-go sandwich from La Sandwicherie for the airport. Full belly, full heart, and already planning my next trip back.
