Head down to Richmond, Virginia and spend your next weekend at the 5 Star luxury hotel, The Jefferson Hotel.
As I was unable to travel too far for my birthday this year, I opted for a staycation. The Jefferson Hotel, a quick 2 hours drive from the DC area was the best decision and no better way to spend my birthday weekend! Keep on reading for my full and honest review of the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia.
The Jefferson Hotel opened its doors to it’s visitors in 1895! It is one of the 52 American hotels with Mobile Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Hotel ratings and is also a member of the Historic Hotels of America.
The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Richmond. There are several restaurants, trendy cafes and things to do within a 3-5 miles radius. I highly recommend checking out Lift Coffee Shop & Cafe located on 218 West Broad Street, the mango smoothie was a life saver in the heat!
This had to be my favorite part of my stay at the hotel in addition to the grand lobby! The bathroom was #GOALS! Reasons being- white marble floor, soaker tub, luxurious toiletries, plush robes and the best part , a television on the bathroom mirror!! This had to be my personal favorite because I fully enjoyed watching it while taking a relaxing bath. Heavenly!
I stayed in a Grand Premier Room with 2 queen beds. The mattress and the pillows were extremely comfortable (not always the case). The decor and color scheme was magnificent and the room also had a flat screen television and free wifi access.
In addition to the amazing room, the hotel has several amenities and things to do that can make your weekend perfect. The hotel has 4 options to dine:
–TJ’s restaurant which is a Southern bistro with a casual atmosphere that serves breakfast, lunch and has a lounge.
–Lemaire restaurant is a new American restaurant featuring Virginia grown ingredients and the Southern influences of Richmond’s food culture. They also carry over 200 different wines!
-An exquisite Sunday Brunch option is also available in the beautiful Rotunda lobby. Reserve your spot to enjoy this amazing brunch well in advance as they do sell out quick.
-The hotel also offers a Southern Afternoon Tea from Friday through Sunday between 2:00 PM and 4:15 PM. You get to enjoy delicious pastries, scones, finger sandwiches and teas. The Afternoon Tea is a must during your stay at the hotel or a great weekend option with your girlfriends! Click here to check out the menus and the timings for all the dining options.
The hotel also has an indoor pool for a night dip or just to enjoy a cold beverage, a luxurious spa for a pampering session or a rejuvenating massage which can be booked in the guestrooms, a fitness center for those who want to keep up their fitness goal and Blooms Gifts and Home Goods shop for those unique souvenirs. OVERALL– JEFFERSON HOTEL RICHMOND, VIRGINIA REVIEW
My final verdict on the hotel. The Jefferson Hotel truly exemplifies luxury and world class service. Even though it may be on the higher end of your budget, I think you get your money’s worth. The rooms are extremely spacious, every detail has been well thought of, from the plush robes to the television on the bathroom mirrors, complimentary pick up/drop off service to nearby restaurants to the Sunday brunch, you are guaranteed to have an amazing weekend.
As far as areas of improvements are concerned, a personal preference would have been better quality shower caps. I understand this may not be relevant to a lot of people, however, for someone who has medium-long hair, it was difficult to cover my entire head.
The city of Richmond has a lot of character, artists showcase their skills via murals all around the city, there are lots of unique cafes and restaurants to please your taste buds and you can tour the city to learn about the history of the country. The prices at the restaurants seemed fair, I would say it is on the inexpensive side, parking can be a challenge in the city so would highly recommend utilizing the complimentary pick up/drop off service offered by the hotel.
The Jefferson Hotel is one of a kind in this area and I would highly recommend spending a weekend there. The distance makes it a perfect spot to have staycation without traveling too far. DMV folks you are going to love this one!
