Best Packing Tips for a Female Visiting Jordan?
- Pack according to the weather, as it can get extremely cold during the winters. I went at the end of March/April and it was freezing! The winds in the desert was brutal especially once the sun started setting
- Jordan is an Arab country which means it is strongly recommended to dress conservatively especially when visiting the local markets
- Keep in mind when planning a visit to Petra, you will do a lot of walking/low intensity hiking, wear comfortable shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. I had reddish dirt all over my white dress and shoes.
- You can try your skills at bargaining especially at the stores that are part of a guided tour group, the prices can vary based on unknown factors such as salesperson’s mood (jk!).

Can You Wear Dresses While Visiting Jordan?
Personally, I love wearing dresses during my trip, especially during the warmer months. They make an easy outfit and less items to pack. Depending on how your itinerary looks like, I recommend midi to full length dresses with sleeves to carry with you. And if you are thinking of wearing a dress while visiting Petra, keep in mind, you will be walking through rocky and dusty areas, so dress accordingly.

What Type of Tops are Recommended to Wear in Jordan?
Tops are a must for a female packing list for Jordan. There are so many options out there, whether you are looking for something casual or dressy, warm or cold weather appropriate, high-end or budget-friendly. I obviously have a few items I recommend. I say pack a few casual t-shirts/tops that you can mix & match for the daytime and then some cute, dressier options as evening wear. Focus on the quality is important here. You want breathable fabrics for the warm weather. Here are some of my recommended options. Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4, Option 5, Option 6.
What Type of Bottoms Should I Bring to Jordan?
Again, think what’s best to mix & match with your tops. One or 2 pairs of jeans? Midi/maxi length skirts? Athleisure wear for the flight or while visiting Petra? Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4, Option 5, Option 6
What Type of Swimwear Should I Pack?
Ladies, leave the tiny bikinis at home, I recommend packing something more modest while visiting Jordan. Instead play around with some bright, colorful coverups. They’ll look great in your pictures. This is the exact swimsuit I wore while visiting the Dead Sea, click here. Here are some more swimsuit and coverup options for you. Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4. Cover ups- Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4, Option 5.
What Type of Shoes Will Work Best for Exploring Jordan?
My number one tip is to bring comfortable shoes! There is a lot of walking involved on most days, you definitely do not want to be uncomfortable. I had a pair for slides for the pool, while visiting the Dead Sea, as well as the desert. These are my exact Gucci slides here that I wore. Here are some other options. Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4, Option 5, Option 6. Another thing to note, the hike to Petra has a lot of reddish dust that will get on your shoes, so please leave those brand new Nikes back home.

What Accessories Must I Bring With Me?
Let’s not forget some important accessories such as a beach hat, sunglasses, handbag, etc. Keep in mind, the heat is brutal during the summers, especially in the desert. This foldable beach hat is one of my most used item. Check out some other options here: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3.
I also recommend carrying a sturdy backpack while traveling to Jordan so you can carry all your essentials with you. Here are some options: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3. Beach bag options for when visiting the Dead Sea: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3. Check out some of my favorite sunglasses here: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3.
Any Other Items That I Should Bring Along?
So here’s a lesson I learned the hard way in Jordan. There’s always something that I forgot while traveling and it’s usually too late for turnaround to get it. This time it was razors. I didn’t think I was going to use one especially since it was cold in Jordan, but sure enough the girls wanted to jump in the fancy jacuzzi at the Four Seasons Amman and guess who needed a razor desperately? The author of this article (aka me!). Long story short, I had to pay almost $30 for some Venus brand razors because things cost wayyy more than what you would pay for back home. So my advice, try your best to not forget the essentials, otherwise you might end up paying an arm & leg for it.
Having said that, here are some essentials I could think of. Sunblock, beach towel, waterproof phone case, reusable water bottle, camera, disposable wipes, selfie stick, portable fan, travel phone charger, travel journal, packing cubes.
