    Review on Frontier Airlines

Should you fly with Frontier Airlines or not? If you are in the U.S., I am pretty sure you would have heard of Frontier Airlines. They are known for their extremely low fare flights. Now, I know there are a few other low fare airlines out there, however, a lot of people shy away from flying with them because of their poor online reviews. I decided to give Frontier Airlines a chance, well because the deal was too good to pass! So here is my honest review on Frontier Airlines.

    PRICING

As stated above, Frontier Airlines is known for their extremely low fares as low as $20 one way! This is actually not a scam, the fares are actually that low. If you ask how…I don’t know. I tend to fly from Washington, D.C. to Orlando several times per year and usually if I buy my plane ticket a month or so in advance, I pay $35 one way. They fly to several routes throughout the United States and some international destinations such as Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada. Last year, I was able to snag a great deal to Cancun which was under $200 round trip! Read about my trip to Cancun here.

You do have to pay additional fees for baggage, food/snacks, etc. which I think is a standard now. A carry on bag will cost you more than a checked baggage to some destinations. It is best to add your baggage when you book your flight as there is a possibility of changed rates later on. This did teach me to travel lighter and as far as the snacks/meals are concerned, I usually just pack some with me.

I also recommend signing up for their email mailing list. This is the trick to get the best deals on flights, as long as you are flexible with your plans. If you read the fine print, most of the best rates are if you fly in on a Tuesday or Wednesday and return on Saturdays.
Another travel tip: Frontier Airlines typically sends out their deals 6-8 weeks in advance. So sign up for those email notifications! You can also check out their latest deals on this page.

If you are a frequent flyer, especially with your family, Frontier’s Discount Den program may be a great money saving option for you. It costs $59.99, you get lower fares in comparison to regular priced tickets, kids fly free, and you can book the discounted fares for up to 9 people on your trip! One trip will pay for the fees itself. Click here to read more about the program.

My top travel tip to avoid baggage fees is to pack my stuff in this bag that’s considered a personal item per the airline’s baggage allowance. This only works for shorter 3-4 days trips but you may be able to pack more. The best part about it, it’s under $10! Click the image below.

    COMFORT

Honestly, did not expect much here. After being crammed on a 14 hour long flight in a middle seat, I think anything else is better than that. The seats on the Frontier airlines planes do not recline, they are not the most spacious but certainly not the worst in my opinion. I have flown on some major airlines where the seats were ripped, filthy and uncomfortable. If you are someone who despises the middle seat, I would recommend paying a few extra bucks and get either the window or aisle seat. There is no in-flight entertainment offered, so make sure you download your favorite movie or shows to watch in flight from your own electronic devices or carry a book. Here are some of my favorite books.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE

Now this is a big one. After all, I did take a choose to fly with them even after reading hundreds of negative reviews. I went back to read through some of the reviews, and I feel a lot of them were unnecessary. Let me explain…there were a lot of complaints about baggage fees and snacks being charged. This information is displayed at least a couple of times before you pay for the flight. In my opinion, I don’t think it’s fair to expect snacks/meals from a $35 flight. Keep in mind, the actual airfare charges are under $10, majority of the costs are taxes and fees (see breakdown of the tickets).

Having said that, I personally have not had any issues with their customer service. Out of the 15 times I have flown with them, 95% of the time my flights have been on time (exception was due to bad weather). I usually fit all my belongings in a purse or the personal item mentioned above, I do not pay extra for the seats and don’t mind the middle seat for a quick 2 hours flight and carry some snacks just in case I get hungry in flight. I have checked my bag in a couple of times and received it perfect condition.

    OVERALLFRONTIER AIRLINES REVIEW

I would say fly with Frontier and see for yourself. As they say, you get what you pay for, it is the same case here. For the low price I pay, I am expecting a seat comfortable enough in a clean plane that will take me to my destination safely and in a timely manner. If you are a budget traveler, the Den Deal program is a money saver, the annual fees pays for itself after 1 or 2 flights. I definitely think Frontier should do something about all the negative reviews out there and work on improving their customer service experience. But guys don’t be afraid to give them a try, just make sure you carry some snacks with you! I hope you found my post on Frontier airlines review helpful and will consider flying them.

    Updated Frontier Airlines Review

As we all know, covid-19 brought some major changes to the travel and airlines industries. Frontier Airlines was no different and impacted by these changes. You may have heard about the recent chaotic travel experiences from many. Major airlines such as Jetblue, Southwest, Frontier, etc. had to deal with them. Whether that was caused due to staff shortage, hundreds of cancelled flights due to technical issues or anything else, reliability has become a big concern for many. Unfortunately, Frontier Airlines needs to pay attention to this area has consumers have lost faith in them. Having said that, if you are looking for a budget airlines, I would still recommend flying with them.

Thanks for your honest review. I am a frequent traveler, and am Southwest Loyal. There are a few times though that for a quick last minute getaway, the Frontier cost would be awesome. And I love what you said, you get what you pay for. Don’t complain that you don’t have a 5 star ride, when you take a 1 star flight! lol

I think this is a very valid and easy read review. It’s straight up and helpful! Thanks for sharing.

Love your honest review. So much of what you said is just a reminder of current culture. Why anyone would expect the bells and whistles at such a cheap cost is insane to me. I have a little solo traveling to do this year and this definitely sounds like a decent option for short flights. The way I see it, the less I spend on airfare the more I spend at my destination. Lol

Let me add my opinion. With that very low fare, the airlines company must not get rid of one super important thing: A quality maintenance on all aircrafts..

I’ve never flown on Frontier before and was a little skeptical due to horror stories from friends who have flown other LCC’s like Spirit. But after reading your review and hearing that the seats aren’t that bad, I may try them sometime. Thanks for your honest opinions!

I have heard many things about Frontier but I think your review is fair. If someone is complaining about things the airline is upfront about then that is your fault. You can’t expect first class treatment from a discount airline.

It’s refreshing to see an honest review.. there are so many sponsored posts which are also great but sometimes I feel not the most honest. It sounds like you saved some money but may have not had the most comfortable flight of your life. Thanks for the review!

good, objective review. i’ve never used them, and i haven’t entertained the idea because to be honest, with such cheap prices, i wonder who does the maintenance on those planes.

I have flown frontier before (and Spirit, Ryan Air etc) and I definitely agree that some of the online reviews can be unnecessary. I just need to get from point A to point B cheaply, and I’m not expecting blankets and meals haha (: I agree that Frontier is fine. Love your review of it!
