Best Theme Park to go to in Orlando

If you are wondering which is the best theme park to go to in Orlando, this post is for you.

I love Orlando and I live right here, so let’s just say theme parks are kind of my backyard playground. I get asked all the time about which parks are worth visiting, especially if you’re trying to squeeze as much magic and fun as possible into just a few days.

I totally get it. Orlando has so many options, it can feel a little overwhelming at first. But here’s the thing, each park has its own vibe, its own magic. Whether you’re here for the roller coasters, to see your favorite characters, or just to soak up the sunshine, I’ve got you covered with this quick, super-friendly guide. Think of this like us having coffee and me giving you the inside scoop! Let’s start!

I now offer a custom vacation planning service. Check it out here!

    Which parks to go to?

Orlando is known as the theme park capital of the world which means you have a lot of options to pick from. However, the challenge is which parks to go to? While it would be great to visit all of them, I find it impossible to do so in a single trip.

There are few things to consider when picking the best theme park for your itinerary.

    • What kind of adventure are you looking for?
    • Are you more of a thrill ride seeker? Or do you prefer spending your day in the sun and water?
    • Are you traveling with kids? Or is it just an adult trip?
    • Are you a fan of Disney characters? Or would you rather learn about animals?

Putting some thought to this can help you decide which park to go for your next trip to Orlando.

DISNEY WORLD – The Classic (4 Parks + 2 Water Parks)

When you think of Orlando, you have to think of Disney World. It’s truly the heart of the magic here! Four theme parks, two water parks, and endless pixie dust, it’s a full-blown experience. Let me break it down for you because each park deserves its spotlight.

    • Magic Kingdom: This is the classic Disney dream. Cinderella’s Castle is the ultimate picture spot (go early in the morning or at sunset for the best lighting!). I love starting my day on Space Mountain and ending it watching the fireworks, they always give me goosebumps! Make sure you grab a Mickey-shaped pretzel or a Dole Whip while you’re there. Favorite character? Easy: Mickey Mouse. You just have to get that photo with the main mouse himself!
    • EPCOT: I have such a soft spot for EPCOT. It feels like you’re traveling the world in one day. The World Showcase is full of delicious eats, my go-to is the croissant in France and sushi in Japan. For rides, don’t miss Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (so fun and smooth!) and the classic Soarin’ Around the World. And if you love flowers, go during the Flower & Garden Festival, the topiaries are adorable and perfect for photos.
    • Hollywood Studios: Star Wars fans, this is your galaxy! Galaxy’s Edge is so immersive,  I genuinely felt like I was in the movies. Definitely try to get a reservation at Oga’s Cantina for the coolest cocktails in the galaxy. Rides? Rise of the Resistance and Tower of Terror are musts! Toy Story Land is super cute, too. And don’t forget to snap a photo in front of the Millenium Falcon, it’s iconic!
    • Animal Kingdom: Nature meets adventure here, and it’s amazing. Avatar Flight of Passage is one of my favorite rides ever, I got off and immediately wanted to go again. The safari is a close second; go in the morning for the best animal sightings. And I always grab the grilled corn from a stand near Harambe Market. Favorite character? Has to be Rafiki, wisdom and sass!

    For the water parks:

    • Blizzard Beach feels like a winter wonderland in Florida heat, Summit Plummet is a thrill!
    • Typhoon Lagoon is a tropical paradise with the biggest, wildest wave pool.

Both parks are perfect for hot Orlando days and definitely worth adding if you want to cool off!

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT – Thrills + Movie Magic (2 Parks)

If you’re a thrill-seeker or a movie lover, Universal is where it’s at! It’s bold, it’s exciting, and the energy here is electric.

    • Universal Studios Florida: Movie lovers, prepare to geek out. The rides here are next-level immersive, I’m obsessed with Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Walking into Diagon Alley honestly gave me chills. Make sure you grab a Butterbeer (hot or cold depending on the season) and snap a photo with the fire-breathing dragon above Gringotts! I also love the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster, you pick your own music, which is such a fun touch.
    • Islands of Adventure: This park is adrenaline central. VelociCoaster is intense and probably my favorite roller coaster in Orlando right now, seriously, don’t skip it! Hogsmeade is the other half of the Harry Potter experience, and riding the Hogwarts Express between the parks is so magical. Also, Marvel Super Hero Island is a blast, and I always make time for the Spider-Man ride. Picture spot? Definitely in front of Hogwarts Castle at sunset!

Pro tip: Get the Park-to-Park ticket so you can hop on the Hogwarts Express between the two parks, it’s part of the fun!

SEAWORLD ORLANDO – Ocean Adventures + Coasters

SeaWorld is such an underrated gem in Orlando! It’s not just about marine life (although the dolphins and orcas are amazing) the rides here are seriously thrilling.

Mako is hands down one of my favorite coasters, it’s smooth, fast, and gives you that perfect stomach-drop feeling. The new Ice Breaker coaster is also so much fun! But honestly, what makes SeaWorld special are the animal encounters. Feeding stingrays and watching the dolphin shows are always highlights of my day.

For food, don’t miss the pretzels and craft beer at Flamecraft Bar, a great spot to relax and people-watch. And for photos, take one near the giant wave sculpture at the park entrance!

    AQUATICA – Water Park Fun!

Aquatica is SeaWorld’s water park, and it’s perfect for a sunny Florida day. The slides here are awesome, my favorite is Dolphin Plunge, where you actually slide through clear tubes surrounded by playful dolphins (so cool!).

The lazy river and wave pools are perfect for downtime between thrills, and there are plenty of lounge spots if you just want to relax with a tropical drink in hand.

For snacks, the mango frozen lemonade is a must-try! And picture spots? Right by the colorful water slides, the bright colors pop so well in photos.

DISCOVERY COVE – Swim with Dolphins (Bucket List!)

Discovery Cove is pure paradise. It feels like a private island resort, and the fact that they limit daily guests makes the whole experience feel exclusive and relaxing.

Swimming with dolphins here was a bucket list moment for me, they’re so graceful and friendly. I also loved snorkeling in the Grand Reef, surrounded by tropical fish and rays.

Your meals and drinks are included (which is amazing!), and the tropical vibe is just perfection. For photos, the sandy beach areas and waterfalls make dreamy backdrops.

LEGOLAND FLORIDA – Perfect for Families with Kids

LEGOLAND is a family favorite, especially if you’re traveling with little ones or just love LEGO (like me!). The creativity here is off the charts, from LEGO-built cities to character meet-and-greets.

Rides are gentle but fun. I loved the Dragon roller coaster and the LEGO Movie Masters of Flight ride, which is surprisingly immersive. The LEGOLAND Water Park is a great addition, especially on hot days!

Don’t miss the Granny’s Apple Fries, trust me, they’re a LEGOLAND classic. And of course, photo ops are everywhere, but my favorite is by the giant LEGO dinosaur at the park entrance.

FUN SPOT AMERICA – Local Thrills on a Budget

Fun Spot America is such a cool local option if you want a dose of theme park fun without the big prices. It’s smaller but super charming, with go-karts, coasters, and classic fair-style rides.

White Lightning is a super fun wooden coaster, and the multi-level go-kart tracks are an absolute blast. I love the old-school vibe here,  it feels nostalgic in the best way.

Grab a funnel cake or cotton candy for that classic fair treat, and take a photo at the entrance with the retro Fun Spot sign!

WHICH PARK IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Now that you’ve got the full scoop, let’s wrap this up with a little cheat sheet, depending on your travel style!

    • If you’re traveling with kids: Go for Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, LEGOLAND, and Aquatica. The characters, kid-friendly rides, and water fun are perfect for little ones!
    • If it’s an adults-only trip: Head to EPCOT for the food and wine scene, Universal’s Islands of Adventure for thrilling coasters, and Discovery Cove for a relaxing, luxurious escape.
    • If you’re a Disney lover: You have to visit all four Disney parks, but if you only have time for one, Magic Kingdom is the classic choice!
    • If you’re a Marvel fan: Islands of Adventure is your dream come true with Marvel Super Hero Island.
    • If you love Harry Potter: Get that Park-to-Park ticket for Universal Studios + Islands of Adventure, you don’t want to miss the Hogwarts Express!
    • If you’re an animal lover: Animal Kingdom, SeaWorld, and Discovery Cove offer amazing animal encounters.
    • If you want water park fun: Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Aquatica, and LEGOLAND’s water park are splash-tastic!

No matter what you choose, I promise Orlando’s parks will give you memories for a lifetime. Plan ahead, pack your sunscreen, and most importantly, have the time of your life! See you in the parks!
